Imtiaz Ali after a long gap of two year he is back to direct, Write and co-produce the film with introduing his new film production company Window Seat Films. Film is Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Editing was done by Aarti Bajaj and direction of photography signed by Anil Mehta, Production Design given to Acropolis while Himanshu Nanda, Acropolis, Rahul Nanda handled Designing of Publicity and AkiNarula to Design Costumes.
Direction of Music and sountracks are composed by A R Rahman under T-Series music Company whlie Resul Pookutty signed for Sound designing and Lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil with seven sountracks. Film shooting started on March 2013 and wrapped up in dec 2013. Most of film Shooting was done in highway roads of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Aru, Jammu, Kashmir, Kuchaman, Gurais, Pahalgam, Valley & Himachal Pradesh.
Child Artist Alia Bhatt after a year gap of her secssefull film Student of the Year (2012) she will be seen again in hihgway with a diffrent new look as Veera Tripathi next to Randeep Hooda. Director Imtiaz Ali confirmed the film stars in dec 2013, Randeep Hooda as Mahabir Bhati and Alia Bhatt as Veera Tripathi in lead roles. Randeep and Alia to work first time with Director Imtiaz Ali and with A R Rahman.
Film Budget Approximately 40 crore and original Genre of film Romance & Journey. Highway first look poster released in dec 2013 and trailer released on 16 December 2013. Film was first schedule to release in December 2013 but later on schedule to release on 21 February 2014.
